Music at the Ashford Beer Festival 2009

Chas Hodges of Chas n' DaveMusic is an integral part of the Ashford Beer Festival. The range of music has broadened over the years and this year we have the most eclectic mix so far. Over the three days we showcase a range that includes live rock, folk, jazz and soul including international star Chas Hodges, regular favourites Electric River, as well as some exciting new talent. The programme for music by session is as follows.

Music Friday 4th September

The Beer Festival opens at 4pm, with music from 6pm to 11pm.

Purity - 6pm

The first band this evening are from Canterbury and are called PURITY. They play covers as well as their own numbers and need to be seen to be believed. The lads are all sudents but have played together for some time now and we welcome them for their debut to the Beer festival.

Loose Change - 7pm

Loose Change are a lively and entertaining group of professional musicians who come together to play covers from many genres. They went down a storm last year, quite literally, as the heavens opened throughout their sets, so we are actually looking forward to watching them without cowering under a piece of damp canvas!Playing from 7pm,  are an internationally renowned touring soul band from Kent, who have become favourites at such international venues as the Kinsale Jazz Festival and the Isle of Wight Beer Festival. Loose Change have fitted the Ashford Beer Festival into their busy schedule and a promising to get the festival off to a rousing start.

The Chas Hodges Band - 8pm

The better looking half, (so I am led to believe) of Chas and Dave, playing all the band's favourites, as well as some from his latest solo album. We are very excited to have an internationally acclaimed and successful artist at the festival, and we are sure that Chas and the Band will really get the place rockin'.

The evening is finished by a second set from Loose Change, with some fantastic music to close the evening on.
Tickets for Friday night are £15.00 adults and £5.00 under 18's. Adult tickets give you free entry to the Beer Festival all weekend, and free camping, and can be bought in advance, reserved on our enquiry form or otherwise by contacting Chris Akers tel 01233 647274, or e mail cjakers@hotmail.com.

Music Saturday 5th September

Heroes

We will be starting the musical entertainment with a well known Kent Group, Heroes, playing their own brand of Madness, The Specials, Ska and similar. Heroes have an impressive list of songs and excellent reviews wherever they play, and we are looking forward very much to spending some time with them.

The Oompah Band

We are now delighted to offer you a completely new musical experience, in the shape of The Oompah Band. These guys are the next best thing to a genuine German beer drinking band, and have not only played across Europe including germany, but are famous for playing an oompah version of School's Out to Alice Cooper on The Graham Norton Show. They will teach us the traditional Bavarian beer songs, and get everyone swaying and singing along. An entertainment really not to be missed!

The Dealers

Once we've cleared up the mess, some sanity returns with another returning band from last year, The Dealers... Not the Kent band of the same name, these guys are from London, and like last year, will really get us in the mood.

Equilibrium

We are then hosting Equilibrium, from Ashford, and gaining a big following. They play covers of The Red Hot Cilli Peppers, The Who...brave men..., and many others, and will set the mood well for the last band of the night,

Electric River

Electric River. Now at their 5th festival, they will be playing us out in their usual excellent style, with covers and their own numbers throughout.

Electric River

Music Sunday 6th September

We are still awaiting confirmation of a couple of bands, but we know for certain that Electric River will be closing the Festival in the afternoon.
